Dr K Govindaraj Inducted into FIBA Central Board

Dr. K Govindaraj becomes the first Kannadiga and the first Indian to be inducted into FIBA Central Board

Bangalore, August 23, 2023: Dr K. Govindaraj, MLC, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday became the first Kannadiga and the first Indian as well to be inducted into the prestigious FIBA Central Board for the term 2023-27. FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, is the world governing body for basketball.

As the FIBA Asia President, Dr K. Govindaraj held meetings with the newly elected FIBA President Sheikh Saud Bin Ali Althani, FIBA Secretary General Mr. Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Executive Director – Asia Mr. Hagop Khajirian and various other top FIBA officials on the measures to be taken to make basketball a more vibrant sport in Asia, and the world.

On the occasion of his induction into the FIBA Central Board Dr. K. Govindaraj said, “It is an honour and privilege to be a part of the FIBA Central Board. More than that, it is a great responsibility to deliver basketball to millions of youngsters in Asia.”
