Basketball Youth National: Karnataka Girls Champions and Boys Runners up…
Howrah (Kolkata ) – Rajasthan boys and Karnataka Girls topped the 39th Youth National Basketball Championship for Boys and Girls here at the Sabuj Sati Indoor stadium, Howrah, Kolkata as in the boys Rajasthan were crowned with an 85-67 victory over Karnataka and in women section Karnataka won with a (61-54) victory over Tamil Nadu.
Rajasthan retained the Boys title while Karnataka regained the Girls trophy from Tamil Nadu.
In the women’s final Deepika P P and captain Nidhi Umesh came as the top scorer with 16 points each for Karnataka while Pushpa Jeffrin scored 15 points for Tamil Nadu.
In the boy’s final dominated by Rajasthan, Piyush Choudhary was the top scorer with 27 points and 14 rebounds and for Karnataka Samarth Manur scored 24, Harshan Yathish 19 and Aditya Shenoi Played Well.
Taarusree Tarun from Karnataka in Girls was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the Championship and carried a Prize money of Rs. 50,000/-.
The Best Shooter in Girls went to Nidhi Umesh of Karnataka and Cash Prize of Rs.25,000/-
